Offer in Compromise
The IRS Offer in Compromise program is a great solution for taxpayers with an overwhelming amount of back tax liabilities. In some instances a taxpayer has accrued so much tax debt that they will never be able to pay it all back. In these instances the IRS will accept less than what is owed, but only if the taxpayer qualifies under rigorous analysis. We know the rules of the program and understand the mathematical formulas the IRS uses to determine eligibility in the OIC program. If you qualify, an OIC can be the best option to resolve your tax debt.
Payroll Taxes
Payroll taxes are a major priority for the IRS. The filing and reporting issues are complicated and business owners that handle their own payroll are potentially exposing themselves to serious liability. Not only are the penalties for failure to file, pay, and report, very high, the IRS can also collect the taxes from the individual responsible personally, not just from the business. The issues surrounding payroll taxes are complex and the consequences are severe. When faced with these issues, having legal representation is essential.
Currently Not Collectible Status
Currently not Collectible status is an attractive option for taxpayers who owe money to the IRS but simply are not in a situation to pay it back at present. Having your account placed in CNC status means that the IRS will not use collections actions to satisfy the debt for a period of time. The debt does not go away and interest will continue to accrue, but the amount of time that the IRS has to collect the debt will continue to run. Qualifying for CNC status requires presenting an accurate financial picture of the taxpayer to the IRS and we know what the Service is looking for.
Wage Garnishment & Bank Levy
The IRS has the power to sidestep you, the taxpayer, and take any money you owe them out of your paycheck before you can touch it. Additionally, the IRS can reach into your bank accounts and levy the money they are owed from your bank. When a tax account is at this point it is imperative that we do everything we can to stop the garnishments or levies immediately. Garnishments and levies are advanced collections procedures and they never benefit the taxpayer. If your account is at this level of IRS involvement you need legal tax representation as soon as possible.
Criminal Tax Representation
In some cases, the Federal or State government will open criminal investigations in an attempt to prosecute a taxpayer. Failing to file returns, underreporting income, allegations of fraudulent deductions, failure to collect and pay employment taxes, failure to collect and pay sales taxes, and allegations of preparing false returns, are just a few of the tax-related offenses that the government can bring. Quality legal representation is crucial when facing a criminal tax charge. Let us help you work through the issue with the government and resolve the case in the best interests of the taxpayer.
Installment Agreements
Installment agreements allow a taxpayer to pay off tax debt in monthly installments if they are unable to pay their taxes in full immediately. The IRS has rules about the amount of the payment that they will accept and the number of months that the agreement can last. Not all installment agreements are created equal and having representation for this step is important. Critically, a taxpayer can be removed from their installment agreement for missing a deadline resulting in the remainder of the taxes becoming due immediately.
